One of the focus areas of Aalto University School of Science is Neuroscience and Neurotechnology. Research and teaching in this area is most active at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering http://nbe.aalto.fi/en/ , located at the Health Technology House. We have developed several world-leading technologies and have pioneered their use in scientific experimentation and clinical applications. The technologies developed include magnetoencephalography (MEG), electroencephalography (EEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), special techniques for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and innovative combination of different methodologies. The projects are well-funded by the Academy of Finland, Erkko Foundation, the European Union Horizon 2020 Future and Emerging Technologies, and several smaller foundations.
We now aim to develop advanced methods and hardware for multimodal imaging of human brain using MRI, EEG, and TMS. We are looking for highly motivated students to work in three ambitious projects with high potential impact:
