YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES
The power electronics division of SAL is growing. To strengthen our team in Graz focusing on research projects of power converter system design for various industrial applications, we are looking for a scientist with focus on power converter modelling and optimization. Your tasks include:
- Working on research projects in close collaboration with industrial/academic partners and other scientists focusing on power converters for various applications.
- Analysis of system requirements, literature/market review of state-of-the-art solutions, propose suitable solutions according to requirements and specifications.
- Topology and system architecture study, modelling and simulation of power converter system.
- Develop advanced design and optimization methodology/platform for power converter and for high frequency magnetic components.
- Support on power converter hardware design and test.
- Develop new project ideas and prepare innovation project proposals for funding calls and/or industrial partners together with other scientists.
- Documentation of research outcomes and writing publications in worldwide leading conferences and journals.
- Attend conferences/workshops/tutorials and give scientific talks.
- Supervising interns and undergraduate students.
YOUR PROFILE
- PhD degree or MSc + min. of 3 years relevant work experience in Electrical Engineering with focus on power electronics.
- Solid background in power electronics, familiar with commonly used power converter topologies and their applications.
- Proven track records of previous project experiences with focus on power converter modeling, design and optimization.
- Proficiency of Matlab/Simulink and at least one power electronic circuits tools (e.g., PLECS, Simplis/Simetrix, LTspice).
- Hands on skills in Matlab or Python programming preferred.
- Experience with optimization methodology and tools is a big plus.
- Familiar with design and optimization of high frequency isolated DC/DC converter and/or high frequency magnetic components is a big plus.
- Experience in writing publications in leading conferences and journals.
- Highly enthusiastic and motivated for research activities and cutting-edge technologies for power electronics and motor drives.
- Willing to learn new technologies and think outside of the box.
- Self-organized and target-oriented working style, ready to take technical challenges and new responsibilities.
- Good communications skills and teamwork spirit.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group E (E3 salary = EUR 3.538, paid 14 times a year) based on 38,5 hours per week). For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum salary of EUR 56.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).
