We are inviting applications for the position of tenure track professor (associate professor) or full professor in logopedics in the Faculty of Social Sciences. The position is in the degree program of logopedics, which is in the unit of Welfare Sciences together with the degree programs of psychology and social work.
Speech and language pathology (logopedics) is a field that studies disruptions in speech, language, voice and communication as well as swallowing disorders, their manifestations, underlying factors and rehabilitation. Empirical research and the application of research results in practical settings are central in logopedics. In Tampere University, we emphasize research in the areas of voice and speech and their disorders. In addition to logopedics, the studies in our degree program also consist of psychology and medical science, and we conduct teaching in co-operation with the degree programs of psychology and social work.
We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished academic who will pursue and lead high-quality scientific research in logopedics, gives research-based teaching, provides student supervision in our degree and doctoral programs, and contributes to social impact and international networking and collaboration within logopedics. This role will also have responsibilities in the development of our teaching and research, and personnel management.
The most important criteria for the position are the quality and versatility of research and teaching. The focus of research and teaching can be in any of the research areas of logopedics.

Initial appointment as tenure track professor is for five years and, subject to successful performance you will become a tenured member of faculty (full professor) at the end of the first five-year period. You will be supported throughout the five-year period to ease transition to a permanent faculty position. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.
Salaries are based on the job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The minimum starting salary of a tenure track professor will range between 4577-5130 EUR/month and of a professor between 5535-6200 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be agreed dependent upon experience and/or performance.
