The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technische Universität Darmstadt offers a vacant position as Assistant-Professor (f/m) of Remote Sensing and Image Analysis (W2, Tenure Track) from Winter Term 2018/19 on. The position is initially limited to six years.
Main focus of the Professorship is the Research in the fields of satellite based remote sensing, like SAR/InSAR, hyperspectral remote
sensing and image analysis in view of the integrated analysis and data fusion with other spatial and geo-environmental data. The
candidate will have a record of excellent research and publications in at least one selected topic of remote sensing and image
The professorship will take responsibility for teaching at BSc. MSc. and PhD levels for students of Civil Engineering, Geodesy,
Environmental Engineering and Geo-Sciences. Interdisciplinary courses and cooperation as well as the commitment to an active
participation in the faculty and university self-government are expected.
Candidates will hold a qualified PhD degree preferably in Geodesy/Geomatics or related fields like electrical engineering or
information science. They should have a record of scientific achievements and will present a well-developed and novel research
program. They should strive for cooperation on national and international level with agencies and industry. Solid didactical and
educational skills are mandatory. Knowledge of the German language and conducting lectures in German are required.
The prerequisites according to § 64 Abs. 3 HHG apply. The experience as post-doctoral researcher should not exceed a total of 4
years. The Assistant Professorship is designed as Qualification Professorships as per § 64 HHG. Remuneration follows the German
W-Besoldung at level W2. For the position the option for a tenured full professorship at the end of the six years is given, after a
positive tenure procedure.
