Are you curious and do you want to understand the managerial issues related to the development of hybrid work, by doing a PhD thesis? Do you want to join a dynamic research team at UCLouvain and be part of a national research consortium (VUB-UNamur-UCLouvain)? Do you have a master's degree in management or social sciences with a degree? Then this challenge is of interest to you.

We offer a PhD scholarship for a period of one year, renewable three times, at the Louvain Research Institute in Management and Organizations. This PhD scholarship, under the scientific supervision of Professor Laurent Taskin (UCLouvain - LouRIM), is part of a larger multidisciplinary project - SUSHY ("Towards sustainable hybrid work: the study of hybrid work effects on well-being, productivity and energy demands"), financed by the BRAIN-be 2.0 programme of the Belgian federal government (BELSPO).

The project

The SUSHY research project aims to study the effects of hybrid work on well-being, productivity and energy demands in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. To this end, SUSHY adopts a mixed-method longitudinal approach integrating a large-scale employee survey, case studies and employee follow-up via the self-administered diary method.

The project brings together a multidisciplinary team (sociology, management, engineering, information systems). The project is led by Professor Laurent Taskin (UCLouvain) - project coordinator -, Professor Christophe Vanroelen (VUB), Professor Annick Castiaux (UNamur), Professor Sergio Altomonte and Professor Hervé Jeanmart (UCLouvain).

Activities

As a researcher in management sciences at UCLouvain, you will carry out a doctoral thesis within the Louvain Research Institute in Management and Organizations (LouRIM), which brings together some 100 researchers in management sciences. You will occupy a key position in the project’s coordinating team and will work in close collaboration with all members of the SUSHY research project team. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following activities

  • Carry out a PhD thesis on the implications of hybrid work on productivity directly related to the SUSHY research programme. This includes doctoral training, the development and writing of a thesis in management sciences, and the scientific communications associated with this work.
  • Carry out the work package related to the study of the implications of hybrid work on work productivity, in the framework of the SUSHY programme, under the research coordinator: to develop the research protocol, collect and analyse data, write parts of the report, communicate the research results, facilitate research meetings and partnership committees, etc.
