The Associate Professor (Chief Scientist II) / Assistant Professor (Senior Research Scientist) will be a member of the Signal Processing and Communications Research Group (SIGCOM). The post will reinforce the strategic research collaboration established with SES, around which an extensive research project portfolio has grown, supported by the European Space Agency, European Commission Horizon Europe, and the FNR. The majority of the projects include international scientific collaborations with renowned academic institutions and industrial stakeholders in the field. Annual external funding for this activity amounts to 10 MEUR/year. Currently, 28 PhD candidates, 33 Research Associates, 10 Research Scientists, and 2 faculty members contribute to this research activity.
Your role
The successful candidate is expected to assume a leading role in defining, acquiring managing, and scientifically contributing to projects in the area of Non-Terrestrial Communications Systems. The candidate will carry a leading role in the area of system optimization and management of nonterrestrial communications, focusing on spectrum coexistence, interference management, demand-based resource assignment and optimization with applications to novel wireless communication systems assisted by non-terrestrial networks.
The candidate will advise and support PhD candidates in their thesis research. English is the working language of this international research group. The research group is engaged in a number of European projects and national projects conducting research in close collaboration with the industry partners.
The candidate will design and deliver Bachelor and Master level classes in computer science, satellite communications and quantum communications, in the Bachelor in Engineering, the Interdisciplinary Space Master, and the Master in Cybersecurity. The candidate will undertake tutoring and internship supervision of Bachelor and Master students.
