The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of researchers working on early modern political history/studies at the University of Luxembourg. The postdoctoral contract is funded by the FNR (Fonds national de la recherche) as part of the CORE project GOVLU: Governing the Duchy of Luxembourg within the polycentric monarchy of Habsburg Spain (16th and 17th c.). Political actors and communication strategies at the periphery of the Spanish Netherlands.
Your role
The Postdoctoral researcher will play a major role in the archival work of GOVLU, supervise the digital processing of the collected documents and help to implement innovative digital tools. The person will help ensure that the publication plan is followed and be in charge of both a guide and a dictionary, two important online outputs of the project. Together with the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral researcher will organize research seminars and a workshop, implement the public history and outreach components of GOVLU, and support the Doctoral researcher in his/her work and training.

Your profile
- An excellent PhD degree in early modern history (16th-17th c.), with a focus on the Spanish Low Countries or on the polycentric monarchy of Spain
- Some experience with archival sources in French and Spanish
- A strong interest in the use of digital tools for the processing of archives and the analysis of political discourse
- Some publications of international standing in the field of early modern studies
- Some experience in public outreach activities
- The capacity and eagerness to work in a team and to expand academic networks
- The willingness to relocate to Luxembourg or its wider region
- Fluency in English and French is required. German, Spanish or Dutch are considered an asset
