The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in design and building typology. The position will be based in the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

This professorship focuses on the cultural dimension of architecture. The job profile is based on design as an applied cultural technique and building typology as a scientific discipline. Based on a deep understanding of cultural-historical and contemporary social dynamics, in depth knowledge and agile methods are used to develop architectural design through teaching and research.

  • You will teach on the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Architecture and actively contribute to the development of an attractive range of courses. You will be open to modern design and teaching methods.
  • You will conduct research within the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering and be open to interdisciplinary collaboration within the Faculty and with other faculties or institutions.
  • You will represent the development of the discipline through exhibition contributions, publications and similar transfer events.
  • You are prepared to teach in English.
  • You are internationally networked and support the internationalisation of the Faculty.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed degree (master or equivalent from university or university of applied sciences) in Architecture
  • Special aptitude for either academic or artistic work and additional achievements
  • As a rule, special aptitude for academic work is proven by the quality of a doctorate desirable with a topic relevant to the advertised position and additional relevant academic achievements, which were achieved when appointed to a first professorship as part of a junior professorship, a habilitation or an academic activity as an academic employee at a university, research institution, in business, administration or another social field in Germany or abroad
  • Special aptitude for artistic work and additional artistic achievements, usually demonstrated by special achievements during five years of artistic activity, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector
  • Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated by excellent performance in the appointment procedure

You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by means of their own architectural work, publications, relevant teaching experience, international co-operation, successful acquisition of third-party funding, project and practical experience, activities in national or international committees, etc. Please enclose a portfolio of your work, relevant certificates and supporting documents with your application.
