Are you passionate about 2D materials and their promise for future semiconductor devices? All at a place that houses world-class fundamental research and sits in the heart of Europe's premier high-tech region for information technology? You are invited to lead research on 2D materials growth with access to cutting-edge synthesis and metrology tools. You will have many opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and to shape the future of semiconductor devices. Join us as an Assistant Professor in Applied Physics!
We are looking for an Assistant professor in the field of 2D materials. You will address one of the key challenges in this field—synthesis of high-quality 2D materials and their integration in next-generation atomic-scale semiconductor devices.
The position is embedded within the Plasma & Materials Processing (PMP) group, with its pioneering work in the field of atomic-scale processing for electronics, next-generation energy technologies, photonics and quantum technology. You will be connected to the Eindhoven Hendrik Casimir Institute (EHCI) and be part of our world-class NanoLab cleanroom community where you will co-direct tools on metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) and atomic layer deposition (ALD). Your research will leverage cutting-edge metrology tools, including transmission electron microscopy (TEM), near-field imaging (VIS, IR, THz) and in-situ measurements, to explore and tailor growth mechanisms and to obtain atomic-level understanding of the process and material properties.
Unique for this position is the opportunity to contribute to the strong research momentum on 2D materials at various TU/e departments. Your research on the synthesis of advanced 2D materials will yield a wealth of opportunities to initiate collaborations with our PIs working on for example exploring novel physics in 2D materials, as well as implementing 2D materials in electronic, photonic and quantum devices for new computing, communication and sensing paradigms. Amongst others, this position will be complemented by an assistant professor position at the Electrical Engineering department (IC group) focusing on device fabrication using 2D materials.
You will also become part of the unique ecosystem of the TU/e and the Eindhoven Brainport region with many collaborations with world-leading international companies, high-level institutes, and innovative SMEs.
This position offers a unique platform to develop your independent research program, secure external funding, and mentor a diverse group of students. In addition, you will contribute to the department’s teaching mission at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
We offer a meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university, in an interdisciplinary setting and within an international network. You will work on a beautiful, green campus within walking distance of the central train station and city center. In addition, we offer you:
