The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. Every year, we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research.
As part of its long-term vision, the ILL Science Strategy outlines how the Institute will build on the enhancements made to its instrument suite through the Endurance programme. This strategy aims to strengthen our scientific programme, expand the user community, and address major societal challenges. It provides a framework to guide resource allocation, highlight the ILL's essential role in European science and innovation, and support political decisions on the future of neutron research in Europe.
A key aspect of this strategy is the creation of Science Hubs-new structures designed to consolidate existing strengths while fostering emerging research areas of societal importance. These hubs will serve as centres of expertise, promoting collaboration, expanding the user base, and reinforcing industrial connections. The Advanced Manufacturing Science Hub, in which this position is based, will play a crucial role in making progress in research into advanced manufacturing using neutron techniques, ensuring the delivery of high-quality science and impactful discoveries.
