Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Are you interested in advancing research in neurodegenerative diseases?

The Division of Clinical Geriatrics at Karolinska Institutet is seeking a creative and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in working with multi-modal neuroimaging data. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research using advanced neuroimaging and biofluid biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases, and to make a meaningful impact in the field of neuroscience. Join our team and benefit from excellent training opportunities in an international working environment, national and international collaborations, and the chance to publish in high-impact journals.

About the Nordberg Lab:

The Nordberg Lab is a multidisciplinary team of over 10 members with extensive expertise in biomarker research for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia disorders. Our work focuses on the translational development of novel neuroimaging biomarkers to understand the molecular mechanisms behind neuronal cell loss and cognitive impairment. By analyzing clinical, cognitive, imaging, and biospecimen data, we aim to improve diagnosis and clinical care for patients with cognitive disorders. The lab is located in the Neo building at KI Campus Flemingsberg.

Your mission

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to ongoing analyses and drive innovative research projects. Your work will involve neuroimaging research using PET markers targeting protein aggregates, inflammatory processes, and synaptic density, combined with new biomarkers in plasma/CSF and clinical data. You will use multimodal methods to study clinical and pathophysiological correlations in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, as well as factors contributing to disease heterogeneity. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a key role in developing new research projects alongside a dynamic team of clinicians and neuroscientists. As a postdoctoral researcher in neuroimaging, you will work under the supervision of Professor Agneta Nordberg or Assistant professor Konstantinos Chiotis.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

To qualify for the postdoctoral position, the candidate must hold a PhD in neuroscience, psychology or a related field and have practical experience in neuroimaging. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required.

A strong candidate should have experience in statistical modeling (e.g., regression analyses) and good programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python or 'R'). Experience working with Alzheimer's disease or other neurodegenerative diseases is considered an advantage.

As a person, the applicant should have a strong interest in neurodegenerative diseases, a collaborative attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced research environment.
