About ACER

The centre has been recently created to address enduring process challenges in Chemistry and engineering disciplines and create an environment for interdisciplinary research. The research program of ACER is multidisciplinary, with faculty members from backgrounds in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering focusing on different research fields such as catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, and organic optoelectronics intelligent and advanced polymers and materials.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct original research of international excellence.

  • Design experiments (DoE) for the synthesis of nanoarchitectured materials and nanocomposites for supercapacitor applications.

  • Support equipment procurement and effectively coordinate with international suppliers.

  • Assemble and test supercapacitor devices.

  • Prepare publications for leading journals and present findings at national and international conferences, workshops, and meetings.

  • Communicate research developments, progress, and results to the research team.

  • Identify areas for improvement within the research framework using integrated management approaches to enhance capacity building, maintain scientific rigor, and strengthen research studies.

  • Support the development of research funding proposals, as needed.

  • Assist in supervising M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, guiding their research work.

Candidate Profile

Given the multidisciplinary nature of ACER, the ideal candidate should have a broad scientific background, including:

  • A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Processes, or a related engineering discipline.

  • A strong background in electrochemical surface science.

  • Proficiency in elemental and structural analysis using various techniques.

  • Knowledge of advanced structural characterizations (highly valued).

  • Expertise in surface analysis, electrochemistry (including cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge–discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), electrode preparation, and aging tests (long-term cycling stability).

  • Familiarity with risk assessment and safe working procedures in a chemical laboratory.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English.

  • A proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team.
