The Professorship for X-ray Imaging at ETH Zurich and the X-ray Tomography Group at PSI, led by Prof. Marco Stampanoni, develop advanced imaging techniques at the synchrotron and in the lab. They aim to translate these novel approaches into medical devices through multidisciplinary collaboration with academia, industry, and medical partners. Scientist in Translational X-ray Imaging

Your tasks

  • Develop and execute experimental programs in novel X-ray imaging methods using PSI's Swiss Light Source as well as advanced lab-based sources.
  • Plan long-term research initiatives in translational X-ray imaging for medical and other applications.
  • Lead lab operations, training, and mentoring junior researchers.
  • Supervise PhD students and postdocs, ensuring their development.
  • Co-manage projects, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Secure funding and lead collaborations with academic and industrial partners.
  • Author and present technical reports and papers.

Your profile

  • PhD in physics, biomedical engineering, medical imaging, or related field.
  • Experience in X-ray imaging techniques and developing novel methods.
  • Hands-on experience in imaging system development and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Competent in training and mentoring young scientists.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
