SLU-Madrid sits at the intersection of American liberal arts education and European intellectual life. If you are looking to build a career in a truly international environment –teaching motivated students from across the world, developing your research agenda, and contributing to university life – this is an opportunity to join a highly international academic community in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.
The Madrid campus of Saint Louis University is a Catholic, Jesuit, U.S.-accredited institution embedded in one of Europe's most dynamic capitals. Our Department of Political Science and International Relations brings together an internationally diverse faculty whose work spans conflict, governance, security, and global affairs – a department that has grown steadily over the years and remains intellectually ambitious, internationally connected, and committed to quality teaching.
Our students come from the United States and from across the world, creating a classroom experience that is as international as the discipline itself. Classes are structured for active engagement and discussion.
We are inviting applications for a full-time faculty position beginning in January 2027. The role carries a teaching load of six courses (18 credits) per academic year, including opportunities to teach at the graduate level, and comes with a twelve-month renewable contract governed by Spanish labor law.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose expertise combines International Law with a geographical specialization in Africa, the Balkans, or Southeast Asia.
Teaching responsibilities may include courses such as International Law, International Organizations, Research Methods, Regional Politics, and Contemporary Crises, depending on departmental needs.
Beyond credentials, we are looking for someone who is collaborative, student-centered, and engaged – a colleague who enjoys teaching, mentoring students, and contributing to the broader mission of the department and the university.
Send a letter of interest outlining your qualifications, experience, and reasons for applying, an updated CV, and contact information for two references to [email protected].
Application deadline: July 19, 2026
