About our Campus: The Ein Kerem campus of the Hebrew University, established in 1960, is in southwestern Jerusalem. This campus hosts the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Dentistry, located next to Hadassah Hospital, one of the city’s main medical centers. It also is also home to the School of Pharmacology, the School of Nursing, the School of Occupational Therapy, and the School of Public Health. The Ein Kerem campus is a central hub for medical and health-related education and research at the University.
About Our Department: The Institute of Biomedical and Oral Research, housed within the Faculty of Dental Medicine, stands at the forefront of translational science. Our department fosters collaborative research that spans from basic science to clinical applications. By integrating expertise from molecular biology to cognitive neuroscience, we strive to transform innovative ideas into tangible solutions for complex biomedical challenges.
About Our Research: The translational Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (tSCAN) lab is dedicated to primary research focused on bio-psycho-social mechanisms as they manifest at the intersection of psychopathological and chronic pain conditions, such as Trauma and Fibromyalgia. To address these issues, we use a combination of methods from cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, psychophysiology, and health informatics, while integrating perspectives from emotion science, social and health psychology, psychiatry and pain medicine, and more.
Job Description: Contribute to various research projects that may include working directly with clinical populations, using unique neuro-physiological technologies, developing data science skills, writing and presenting findings (for peer-reviewed scientific journals, oral presentations), interacting with additional students and researchers in a multi-cultural/multi-lingual bio-medical environment.
About Your Supervisor: Dr. Gadi Gilam is a distinguished researcher and the driving force behind the tSCAN lab. His work in social, cognitive, and affective neuroscience has significantly shed light on how pain and emotions interact within various clinical populations. With extensive expertise in neuroimaging, psychophysiology, and computational approaches, Dr. Gilam is renowned for his collaborative leadership and commitment to mentoring emerging scientists in a rigorous and supportive environment.
