At the Institute of Materials Chemistry, in the Research Group for Molecular Materials Chemistry TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: August 2026.

Tasks:

  • Synthesis and modification of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs)
  • Structural elucidation of MOFs and COFs and application of methods for material characterization
  • Evaluation of optoelectronic properties and testing for photocatalytic applications (e.g., solar hydrogen and ammonia synthesis)
  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks (e.g. synsthesis lab) as well as examinations
  • Cooperation and guidance of students
  • Deepening scientific knowledge
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
  • Advanced knowledge of inorganic, organometallic, and reticular chemistry
  • Experience in the synthesis and characterization of organometallic hybrid materials (e.g., MOFs)
  • Experience in the evaluation of optoelectronic and photocatalytic material properties
  • Knowledge of scientific research methods
  • Very good skills in German and English communication and writing (C1)
  • Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
  • Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability
  • Teamcompetences, problem-solving and innovative abilities

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week.
