Your Responsibilities

  • Research in the area of bio-based recyclable polymers, sustainable catalysis and green chemistry
  • Development of catalytic methods that allow conversion of biomass to polymer building blocks
  • The synthesis and characterization of known and novel recyclable bio-based polymers and composites
  • The use of several instruments related to polymer characterization (e.g. TGA/DSC, DMA) in the group or in cooperation with research partners
  • The study of the thermal mechanical properties of renewable epoxy amine thermosets as function of the used chemical structure of building blocks
  • Study of depolymerization behaviour of chemically recyclable thermosets
  • Scaling of polymer synthesis from gram to multi-gram scale
  • Testing of scaled polymers with industrial partners for further exploitation
  • Writing a relevant dissertation at the University of Graz
  • Independent teaching of courses and participation in teaching and examination tasks of the institute of chemistry
  • Supervision of students
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures

Your Profile

  • Completed master’s degree in the area of Chemical Engineering with focus on materials science
  • Experience in the synthesis and characterization of polymers, including bio-based polymers
  • Knowledge of polymer synthesis and characterization methods
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of German, both written and spoken, is an advantage
  • High level of commitment and motivation for scientific work
  • High degree of personal responsibility and ability to cooperate
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team
  • Motivation to perform research at the interface between academia and industry

  • Proof of the language skills, required in the curriculum, if the doctoral program is not completed in the first language.

We offer an annual gross salary of € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position.
