Writing a dissertation at the University of Graz in the area of cognitive-functional grammar of English
Participating in research projects and publication activities
Independent teaching of courses and participation in teaching and examination tasks of the department
Participating in and co-organising workshops and conferences

Commitment to acquire German language skills by attending a German language course
Your Profile
Completed diploma or master’s degree in the area of English linguistics, preferably with a focus on English grammar
Experience with or willingness to employ computer corpora and corpus-based research methods
Good knowledge of cognitive-functional theories of language
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Basic knowledge of German (desirable)
Teaching experience (desirable)
Very good computer skills
Ability to work independently, goal-oriented, and high level of initiative
Strong teamworking and organizational skills

Proof of the language skills, required in the curriculum, if the doctoral programme is not completed in the first language (please note that an admission is required). For a doctorate in English and American Studies within the doctoral programme at the Faculty of Humanities a language certificate in English on a C1 Level (CEFR C1) is required.
We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.

The Department of English Studies, together with the Institute for American Studies, offers a Teaching Degree in English (BA, MA), as well as a BA, MA and Doctorate Program in English and American Studies. Scientific research and academic teaching is devoted to the English language, linguistics, cultural and literary sciences, as well as their corresponding subject-specific didactics.
