The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics & Computer Science at the University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a
at salary grade W3 to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.
We are searching for an internationally recognized scholar with an excellent research track record in algebraic geometry, who complements our existing research interests. We expect experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the willingness to cooperate with the research group in complex geometry, number theory, and algebra, in particular regarding the submission of joint research proposals.
The successful candidate will teach courses, mainly in algebra and geometry, for students in the various study programmes in mathematics, including teacher education programmes. The incumbent will also be expected to contribute to the courses offered by the Mathematics Department to students enrolled in other subjects.
The ability to teach in English is expected; international applicants must be willing and able to teach in German in the medium term.
