The Institute of Management (IoM) at the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), University of Geneva, is seeking a full-time Research and Teaching Assistant. Home to more than 30 renowned scholars, the IoM conducts cutting-edge research in core areas of management, regularly featured in leading academic journals.

The selected candidate will be expected to enroll in GSEM’s PhD in Management program and pursue a doctoral thesis in Marketing under the supervision of Professor Marcel Paulssen. The research will focus on customer experience management at the intersection of marketing and operations management. The candidate will also contribute to an ongoing project aimed at tracking quality perceptions of durable products. Data collection applications for the project have already been designed and developed. The PhD thesis will consist of three to four research articles.

In addition, the successful candidate will serve as a Teaching Assistant for a variety of courses at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Responsibilities will include conducting tutorials, preparing exam materials, grading assessments, and supervising Master’s theses.

The position is offered on a renewable 2-year contract, with a maximum duration of 5 years. An initial probationary period of 3 months applies, during which either party may terminate the contract with a one-month notice.

Job qualifications & requirements:

  • Master’s degree in management, preferably with a specialisation in marketing or operations management, or from relad fields such as industrial engineering or statistics.
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills in multivariate statistics and/or machine learning.
  • Prior practical data analysis experience is crucial, i.e. experience in a command-line environment such as R, Python, or Matlab and a more solid knowledge of either SAS, Stata, or SPSS required.
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is required. Knowledge of French is a plus.
  • High motivation, self-discipline and the proactiveness to complete a doctoral thesis.

 Starting Date: 

January 1st 2026, or earlier date to be agreed upon.
