Your role

This Ph.D. position offers a chance to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary research group at the forefront of tackling complex global challenges. The successful candidate will become part of a significant research project focused on accelerating critical transitions through a data-driven approaches. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out research in predefined areas and disseminating results through high ranked scientific publications. They will also communicate and interact regularly with partner teams or industry partner to gather requirements and report findings. A key aspect of the role involves implementing and open-sourcing proof-of-concept software tools, alongside collaborating with other researchers within the program.

Your profile

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a highly motivated doctoral candidate to join the interdisciplinary and international FINATRAX Research Group at the SnT research centre. Our team works at the intersection of energy markets, digital technologies, and policy to support the transition toward a low-carbon and data-driven energy future. The successful candidate will contribute to research on in one of our teams. The role offers opportunities to collaborate with public institutions, industry stakeholders, and European partners.

The candidate should possess:

  • Strong analytical skills (quantitative and/or qualitative)
  • Experience with programming tools
  • Excellent communication skills in English; other languages are an asset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment
