About the LCSB

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and
in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.

Your role

The project is on the study of neurological and immunological disorders:

  • The candidate will conduct integrative analyses of biomedical datasets, with a focus on omics data. This will include implementing and applying software analysis pipelines and interpreting disease-related data together with experimental and clinical collaborators
  • Bioinformatics analyses guided by prior mechanistic knowledge will be conducted, using the known grouping structures among features in the omics data and dedicated approaches for structured data analysis
  • With the help of statistics, artificial intelligence and pathway- and network- and analyses, the goal is to improve the mechanistic understanding of disease-associated alterations

Your profile

We seek a bioinformatician or computational biologist who is well versed in the machine learning and statistical analysis of biomedical data, the use of artificial intelligence and large language models for data analysis, and bioscientific programming.

The candidate should have experience in the analysis of large-scale biomedical data, e.g.: omics or clinical data, using statistical / machine learning methods, pathway/network analysis or artificial intelligence approaches.

Other requirements:

  • The candidate should have a PhD or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, artificial intelligence / machine learning, biostatistics, computational biology, or related subject area
  • A track record of previous publications in bioinformatics analysis of large-scale biomedical data, e.g.: omics, clinical, structural bioinformatics data, which should be outlined in the CV
  • Prior experience in large-scale data processing and statistics / machine learning is required
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in next-generation sequencing data analysis, biostatistics, machine learning, pathway and network analysis are highly advantageous
  • The candidate should have a cross-disciplinary aptitude, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a keen interest in collaborative biomedical research
  • Languages: Excellent command of English (C1) is required

We offer

  • A modern, dynamic university with a personal and inclusive atmosphere. Multilingual and international character. Staff coming from more than 90 countries. Member of The Guild of European Research Intensive Universities
