Now in its 21st year of operation, Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) is a leading private higher education institution providing high quality technological education for the Sultanate of Oman and the region in general. The college has produced 1,841 diplomats, 3,386 graduates and 90 postgraduates since opening its doors in 1996. Today, CCE is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious private academic institutions in the country with a student population of over 4000, comprised of 22 nationalities, and around 400 academic, support and administrative staff, comprised of 21 nationalities. College operations span two modern campuses at Al Hail and at Airport Heights, the current location of the college’s School of Foundation Studies.
The college has affiliation with Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK, University of South Carolina, US and a close partnership with VIT University in India. It also maintains over 20 other international academic partnerships, enabling students to explore their potential through exchange, internship and collaborative research. This approach has resulted in CCE students gaining recognition internationally as exemplified by the recent selection of a CCE graduate in a UN-sponsored space programme in Vienna.
The college has won many awards including the Best Brand among Private Colleges in Oman (Business Today, Brand Survey), Best Educational Institute in Engineering (World Education Congress, Asia Awards), International Prize for the Best College (European Business Assembly, UK), Green Awards for Education for three consecutive years (OER) and Riyada Award for Best Educational Initiative in Entrepreneurship. It continues to aspire towards excellence with the introduction in 2013 of BEng programmes and a major review of Foundation Studies to align to the needs of these new programmes. In 2016 a brand new laboratory block, the Centre for Research and Innovation, was inaugurated by Her Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education; this major new facility provides specialised laboratories, teaching and learning facilities and a wide range of modern equipment supportive of the college’s research interests.
