The Software Technology and Applications Competence Centre (STACC) is a research and development organization established in 2009 to conduct high-priority industrial research. STACC is a joint initiative between the University of Tartu and Tallinn Technical University as the centres of science in Estonia, and Cybernetica AS, Regio AS, Nortal AS, Quretec OÜ, Browserbite OÜ, eHealth Foundation, Skype Technologies OÜ and ZeroTurnaround OÜ as the leading IT companies and users of Estonian software and knowledge-based technology.
STACC conducts industrial research in software technology by working on data mining and software engineering projects. This research is aimed at the acquisition of new knowledge and skills for developing new products, processes and services and for bringing about a significant improvement in existing products, processes and services. The mission of STACC is to enhance the competitiveness of organisations that are closely involved in software technology.
STACC is one of eight competence centers financed by Enterprise Estonia. Centers aim to bridge the gap between scientific and economic innovation by providing a collective environment for academics, industry and other innovation actors and creating sufficient critical mass.
