Southern and Eastern Norway Pharmaceutical Trust

Southern and Eastern Norway Pharmaceutical Trust (Sykehusapotekene) is a health trust owned by Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority that operates nineteen hospital pharmacies. The pharmacies are part of the Ditt Apotek chain and use Norsk Medisinaldepot as wholesaler.

Sykehusapotekene are the pharmacies of the Specialist Health Service (spesialisthelsetjenesten). We have the same owners as the hospitals and have close cooperation both regionally and locally. They own and operate hospital pharmacies in the south-eastern health region and which is owned by the Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.

We are the competence center for pharmaceuticals for the hospitals and patients, and contribute to an increased patient safety. The company will also actively contribute to keeping the costs of the health industry and its patients associated with drug acquisition as low as possible. We therefore have many tasks at the hospitals:

• We provide medicine to the hospitals and their patients.
• We produce medicine that cannot be obtained by other means, including facilitating the use of closed antibiotics solutions (semi-finished).
• We have pharmacists who work with the hospital, either directly as a part of the team connected to patient treatment or in an advisory capacity at the system level. They are called service pharmacists and you can read more about their tasks here.
• We are responsible for contingency associated with medicine supply in this health region. We propose and implement solutions to ensure access to medicines.
