Job description

You will conduct research in Swedish linguistics with the primary goal of obtaining a doctoral degree under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Widoff. The doctoral project will be part of the project “Space, polyvalence and domain-neutrality in the organisation of linguistic meaning”. You will be allowed to formulate independent research questions and research tasks that fall within the scope of this project.

Doctoral fellow

YOUR JOB

  • You will conduct academic research with the goal of obtaining a doctoral degree.
  • You will publish academic articles related to your research project.
  • You will present your results at national and international conferences.
  • You will write research projects to granting Institutions (e.g. FWO).
  • You will take on a limited amount of teaching tasks at the Scandinavian section of the Department of linguistics.

Job profile

  • For this PhD position, the following qualifications are relevant:
  • You hold a Master’s degree relevant to conducting research in Swedish linguistics. The degree requirement must be met by the start date of employment.
  • A record of excellent academic performance.
  • Excellent academic writing skills and oral skills in Swedish and English.
  • Excellent theoretical comprehension and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and at the same time function effectively in a team.
  • Previous familiarity with research in semantics is an advantage.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • You will be part of the Scandinavian section of the Department of linguistics, which is responsible for teaching Swedish courses at the bachelor’s and master’s program at the department.
  • You will work under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Widoff.
  • We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by the Department of Personnel and Organization based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
