YOUR TASKS
- At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in the field of enzyme and carbohydrate biotechnology
- You contribute to the department's teaching according to current educational needs, including:
- Organizing contact hours for the courses Enzyme Engineering and Modelling (I002635), Synthetic Biology (I002634), Metabolic Engineering and Modelling of Micro-organisms (I002632), Practical Studies in Biotechnology (I700242)
- Providing support, depending on the size of the groups, for the supervision of excursions and PC tutorials for the courses Industrial Biotechnology (I002612) and Industrial Fermentation Processes and Downstream Processing (I002631)
- You supervise master's students in the context of exercises, internships, and master's theses.
- You will counsel doctoral students
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a doctoral degree in bioengineering sciences, in applied biological sciences, in sciences: biochemistry and biotechnology, or equivalent. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
- You have experience with the expression, characterization, and engineering of enzymes
- You have experience with the purification and analysis of carbohydrates.
- You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate
- You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes
- You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a temporary appointment of 3 years. A second appointment of up to 3 years can follow, subject to a favourable evaluation of the first term
- Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to three years, you can apply
- The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term
- Your appointment will start on 1 October 2025 at the earliest
