2 - Position description

The Faculteit Psychologie & Educatiewetenschappen, Department Psychologie, research group No Large Research Group, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher. 

More concretely your work package contains: 

We zoeken een postdoctoraal onderzoeker die een leidende wetenschappelijke rol opneemt binnen het Horizon Europe project SAMPO-project. De functie situeert zich binnen digitale mentale gezondheid bij jongeren, preventie van zelfbeschadigend gedrag, gepersonaliseerde assessment en interventie, longitudinaal cohortonderzoek en evaluatie via gerandomiseerde studies. Je werkt nauw samen met prof. Imke Baetens, prof. Martijn Van Heel, de SAMPO-projectmanager, doctoraatsonderzoekers, masterstudenten en internationale consortiumpartners. 
Je versterkt de wetenschappelijke coördinatie van SAMPO aan de VUB, draagt bij aan de ontwikkeling en evaluatie van het PRO algoritme en de SAMPO app, en leidt hoogwaardige analyses en publicaties op basis van multi-country cohort- en trialdata. De functie biedt de kans om te werken in een sterk collaboratief internationaal consortium met duidelijke maatschappelijke, klinische en beleidsmatige relevantie. 

Een selectie van jouw taken:

• Je neemt een leidende rol op in de wetenschappelijke uitvoering van SAMPO aan de VUB, met bijzondere aandacht voor studiedesign, meting, interventie-evaluatie, datakwaliteit, analyse en publicatiestrategie;
• Je ondersteunt de coördinatie van VUB-geleide werkpakketten en deliverables, onder meer rond e-screening, gepersonaliseerde assessment, risico-/veerkrachtmodules, trialevaluatie, statistische analyse, ethiek en beleidsimpact;
• Je leidt of co-leidt analyses van multi-country longitudinale cohortdata en geneste RCT-data, inclusief statistische analyseplannen, preregistraties, psychometrisch werk, interventie-effectanalyses en, waar relevant, persoonsgerichte of netwerkbenaderingen;
• Je draagt bij aan de verdere ontwikkeling, validatie en implementatie van het PRO-algoritme, PECAN-persoonsgerichte assessment en modulaire interventiecomponenten in samenwerking met consortiumpartners;
• Je bewaakt Belgische dataverzamelingsprocessen en kwaliteitscontroleprocedures, inclusief documentatie, datamanagement, monitoring van rekrutering en retentie, en afstemming met ethische/safeguardingprotocollen;
• Je bereidt kwalitatief hoogstaande wetenschappelijke manuscripten, projectrapporten, deliverables, conferentiebijdragen, grantgerelateerde teksten en translatiegerichte outputs voor stakeholders en beleidsactoren voor;
• Je co-superviseert doctoraatsstudenten, masterstudenten en onderzoeksassistenten, en draagt bij aan teamvergaderingen, trainingsactiviteiten en methodologische ondersteuning binnen PRISM/BRUCC;
• Je ondersteunt participatieve co-design- en stakeholderactiviteiten met jongeren, scholen, diensten en klinische/communitypartners;
• Je draagt bij aan disseminatie-, exploitatie- en duurzaamheidsactiviteiten, inclusief implementatieleidraden, policy briefs en samenwerking met het communicatieteam van het project;

For this function, our Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering Campus (Elsene) will serve as your home base. 

3 - Profile

What do we expect from you?

• Je hebt een doctoraat in de klinische psychologie, ontwikkelingspsychologie, psychiatrie, public health, epidemiologie, biostatistiek, data science, gezondheidswetenschappen, pedagogische wetenschappen of een nauw verwante discipline. 

•  
  • Je hebt expertise of aantoonbare sterke interesse in mentale gezondheid bij adolescenten of jongvolwassenen, zelfbeschadigend gedrag, suïcidepreventie, digitale mentale gezondheid, gepersonaliseerde interventie, klinische trials, longitudinaal onderzoek of implementatiewetenschap;
  • Je beschikt over sterke kwantitatieve onderzoeksvaardigheden. Ervaring met R en geavanceerde statistische methoden zoals longitudinale modellering, multilevelmodellering, structurele vergelijkingsmodellen, psychometrie, clinical trial analysis, netwerkanalyse, machine learning of causale modellering is een belangrijke troef;
  • Je hebt een duidelijk publicatieprofiel in verhouding tot je loopbaanfase en bent gemotiveerd om te publiceren in internationale wetenschappelijke tijdschriften;
  • Je kan complexe wetenschappelijke vragen vertalen naar haalbare studieprocedures, analyseplannen, deliverables en publicaties;
  • Je beschikt over uitstekende schriftelijke en mondelinge vaardigheden in het Engels. Nederlands is een troef voor afstemming met lokale stakeholders en deelnemers; bereidheid om je in de Nederlandstalige context te engageren wordt gewaardeerd;
  • Je kan taken coördineren, junior onderzoekers ondersteunen, zelfstandig werken en samenwerken binnen een groot internationaal consortium;
  • Je hebt ervaring met Horizon Europe, multi-country projecten, digitale interventiestudies, EMA/ESM, gegevensbescherming, jongerenparticipatie of safeguardingprotocollen wat een pluspunt is;
  • Het projectbudget laat toe om tot maximaal 6 jaar relevante anciënniteit mee in rekening te brengen bij het bepalen van de salarisschaal, in overeenstemming met de VUB-regelgeving.

4 - Offer

Are you going to be our new colleague?

You’ll be offered a contract, for an assignment of 0.5 FTE, for 12 months (extendable, on condition of the positive evaluation of the research activities), with planned starting date 01/10/2026. 

You’ll receive a salary linked to one of the scales set by the government.
