The Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) is a reference center for personalized medicine in oncology created in 2007.

Thanks to its pioneering model of multidisciplinary and translational research and its participation in consortia and projects with other prestigious centers around the world, it has positioned itself as one of the most important comprehensive centers in Europe capable of transforming, in record time, the latest research discoveries in the laboratory in early clinical trials and, therefore, in new opportunities for patients.

In order to translate cancer discovery into real benefits for an increasing number patients, VHIO adopts a purely translational, multidisciplinary research model. Organized into three main programs – Preclinical & Translational, Clinical, and Core Technologies, our research focuses on understanding the fundamental biology of human cancer, from cellular and molecular biology and genetics through to therapeutics.
