Leading Health & Life Science Research in Amsterdam

Amsterdam Research brings together opinion leading academic research in the field of Health & Life Sciences developed in the Amsterdam region. In doing so - and on the authority of the two medical centers and the two universities - Amsterdam now has eight alliance research institutes, each with dedicated expertise and focused on particular disease indications. Main focus
Our main focus is on complex patient care and highly-specialized treatment of rare medical conditions. At Amsterdam UMC, we teach and train thousands of young people to become doctors, specialists or nurses. Our researchers are clustered in eight research centers so that we can achieve our ambition of executing international, cutting-edge research. At Amsterdam UMC, AMC and VUmc are working together on academic patient care, scientific research and teaching & training.

Better together
Amsterdam UMC offers the opportunity to combine the innovative research databases of the two hospital sites. Together, Amsterdam UMC submits approximately 7,000 articles to prominent medical journals and provides the keynote speech at hundreds of scientific symposia and congresses every year. Abroad, Amsterdam UMC works closely with cutting-edge institutions including Harvard, Oxford, the London medical institutes and the Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden. In the field of academic medicine, Amsterdam UMC proudly ranks amongst the world’s most authoritative institutions.
