At the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation, in the Research Unit of Geoinformation TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) until expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: October 2024. We welcome applications from students that are enthusiastic about working in the area of Augmented Reality and Geographic Information Science. During this 4 years position, the main focus will be on the intersection between Mixed Reality, Geographic Information Science and Human-Computer Interaction. The research is expected to lead to publications and a PhD dissertation for the student.
The ideal candidate must have an academic degree (Master Degree or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, Information Science), as well as strong research interests in Mixed Reality and spatial phenomena. Very good programming skills, good analytical thinking, good communication skills in English (oral and written, German language skills are a plus), and being a team player are required. Experience in working with Python, C# and Unity is highly desirable. Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Microsoft HoloLens 2, Human Subject Studies, Mixed Reality Hardware, Eye Tracking, Machine/Deep Learning, spatial data analysis and geographic concepts.
Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,684.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
