Research Assistance in Wearables API for Android App Development

Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher looking to make a difference in the field of AI applied in Healthcare? Join us at the Spinal Cord Injury Artificial Intelligence - SCAI Lab at ETH Zurich. Join our team of scientists improving the long-term prognosis and treatment in chronic conditions through mobile and wearable systems and personalized health monitoring

Joining the SCAI Lab part of the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab at ETH, you will have the unique opportunity of working at one of the largest and most prestigious health providers in Switzerland: Swiss Paraplegic Center (SPZ) in Nottwil (LU).

Project background

Within the framework of lifelong medical and social care we are working with the SPZ to understand the causes and model the human body conditions resulting from spinal cord injury.

Job description

We are looking for a Swiss based research assistant to support the app development for data recording through the Bluetooth interface.

  • App development with wearables SDK for embodied sensing with multiple sensors (80%)
  • Validation and testing (10%) 
  • Writing documentation (10%)

Your profile

  • (Preferred) Student of a Swiss university or university of applied sciences (ETH Zurich, EPFL, etc.)
  • Valid working permit in Switzerland
  • Strong experience in Android Studio and Java
  • Computer systems and network understanding (Linux-based systems)
  • Knowledge of data management principles
  • Git knowledge

  • Salary: As defined by ETH regulations for research assistants.
  • Flexible working hours, and home office fully possible.
  • Work within a team of interdisciplinary health professionals between Zurich, and Nottwil.

We offer a 40% to 60% position starting from May 2024 (or shortly thereafter)
