This post is intended for candidates wishing to complete a doctorate in the mathematical sciences. The activities of an assistant are divided between research, teaching and community services.
Research activities are mainly devoted to writing a doctoral thesis in one of the Mathematics Department's research areas. The candidate must have made prior contact with one of the Department's professors.
Teaching activities include supervising exercise sessions and projects for various courses in the field of mathematics (maximum 300 h/year) and other teaching tasks such as preparing, supervising and marking examinations, etc.
Occasionally, the assistant participates in community service activities (e.g. participation in participatory bodies, student fairs, dissemination activities, etc.).
The assistant post provides a wealth of experience in higher education, and is also a privileged gateway to a doctorate. Salary conditions are competitive.
