SEMM is a private foundation for higher education in biomedicine. It collaborates with the University of Milan that acts as university administrative site and awarding body, and 6 additional Italian Universities (University of Bari, Naples, Turin, Trento, Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Humanitas University) and operates within 8 research centers of excellence, to create and manage a strong innovative and interdisciplinary PhD program: the PhD program in Systems Medicine that includes 4 interdisciplinary curricula and integrates basic research and clinical aspects.
SEMM operates within eight research centers of excellence: European Institute of Oncology (IEO), FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM), Center for Genomic Science of IIT, National Institute of Molecular Genetics (INGM), Italian Institute of Genomic Medicine (IIGM), Human Technopole (HT), Center for Genetic Engineering (Ceinge), Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM).
Science covers virtually every aspect of modern Cell and Molecular Biology, from both the basic and applied research points of view, is highly inter and multidisciplinary and is supported by know-how extending from functional genomics to developmental model systems.
