YOUR TASK

• We are searching a postdoctoral researcher with a background in engineering, to complement our multidisciplinary team, consisting of medical doctors, engineers, business developers and a subcontractor.
• You will work on a project that aims to bring a new medical device to treat hydrocephalus (accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain) to the point that it is ready to be tested in humans.  The medical device, dural venous access device (DVSAD), forms the distal part of a fluid connection between the brain ventricles and a large blood vessel just beneath the skull (dural venous sinus).
• Steps to be taken in this project are optimisation of the design, development of a distal valve and testing of the device in vitro, in cadaver studies and in a small animal study.  The production and in part the development of prototypes will be outsourced to a subcontractor.
• Your task will be to manage the project, supervise the subcontractor and carry out the in vitro and in vivo testing (with support of the medical team were needed).

YOUR PROFILE

• You have a doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering
• You are hands-on and work accurately
• You are a good communicator and you have experience working in a multidisciplinary team
• You have experience with in vitro testing of medical devices
• You are well versed in the certification of medical devices
• You are willing to participate in and carry out laboratory animal and cadaver studies.
• Knowledge of experience with numerical fluid mechanics is a plus  

OUR OFFER

• We offer you a fixed-term contract for a period of 18 months.
• You can start employment at the earliest from 1/06/2021.
• The remuneration is made according to the scale WM1 to WM4 (if master's degree) or PD1 to PD4 (if doctorate degree). More information about our salary scales (in Dutch).
