The following full-time position is available at the Centre for Research and Knowledge Transfer (ZFW), Weihenstephan Campus (Freising):

RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT OFFICER (M/F/X)

The position is temporary for a period of two years.

The Centre for Research and Knowledge Transfer serves as the nucleus of the HSWT when it comes to research management, project support and controlling, transfer activities as well as facilitating academic careers. The ZFW is the coordination and service centre for all research, knowledge, and technology transfer as well as start-up and invention activities. With a holistic approach, the ZFW supports the researchers from the research or project idea to the application and project realisation. It accompanies the entire process and offers supplementary services as well as comprehensive advice on all aspects of research and research management.

Your area of responsibility:

  • You will develop and implement a concept for university-wide Research Data Management (RDM) services.
  • You will be responsible for setting up and expanding basic RDM structures, such as the sustainable establishment of a research data policy implementing the FAIR principles to ensure good scientific practice.
  • You will support the integration of existing IT systems and applications into the new data management concept in coordination with the HSWT computer centre.
  • You will advise our scientific staff from various disciplines on RDM along the entire research data life cycle (planning, collection, storage, publication, archiving, re-use).
  • You will assist the scientific staff in writing data management plans and publishing research data, in particular when it comes to choosing suitable repositories and describing data with metadata.
  • You will create guidelines and handouts and compile best practices.
  • You will develop and establish a RDM training programme and independently conduct training courses, workshops, and other events on RDM.
  • You are the contact person for data protection, legal affairs, and ethical issues in RDM.
  • You will network internally and externally to exchange knowledge about RDM and create synergies.
  • You will monitor regional, national, and international developments in the field of RDM and implement relevant findings at the institution.
  • You will coordinate and facilitate across departments between relevant RDM interfaces (e.g. computer centre and research institutes).

Your profile:

  • You have practical experience in the field of RDM and you know common paradigms, methods, and standards.
  • Knowledge of copyright and data protection law is an advantage.
  • You have experience in knowledge transfer and in providing training, workshops, and consulting services.
  • You enjoy cross-departmental collaboration and teamwork.
  • Experience in academia, public administration, electronic administrative work, and/or the German research landscape is desirable.
  • You communicate confidently in German or English.
  • You work in a structured, forward-looking, independent, and results-orientated way.
  • You are characterised by a high level of service orientation, approach tasks proactively and quickly comprehend new ideas.
  • You communicate with your counterparts at eye level and provide competent advice.
  • You are IT-savvy and have a passion for data.
  • You are an emphatic, open-minded, friendly, and reliable person with initiative, team spirit, assertiveness, and communication skills in contact with different interfaces.

You have a completed academic university degree (Diplom [Univ.], Magister, or Master).

Notes:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date. Payment will be made in accordance with the provisions of collective bargaining law, up to pay grade E 13 TV-L if the personal and collective bargaining requirements are met. Taking into account the requirements of the job, the position is also suitable for part-time employment.
