The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

The FHSE seeks to hire a Research and Development specialist – to manage the Luxembourg Platform for Participatory Democracy (PLDP), led by Dr. Raphael Kies, and its projects, as well as strategic partnerships with the city of Dudelange, relevant ministries and funding authorities.

Your Role...

The Research and Development specialist will work together with Dr. Raphael Kies and PLDP team in the following activities:

  • Managing and coordinating of the newly established participatory platform in collaboration with Dr. Raphael Kies
  • Active contribution to the strategic development of the participatory platform, including contribution to the identification and acquisition of (external) funding sources
  • Supporting the elaboration of the working plan and relevant activities and coordinating their implementation
  • Ensuring collaboration with the City of Dudelange according to the project’s objectives (evaluation and the implementation of the participatory projects, projects lead), relevant ministries and other institutional partners
  • Contributing to the establishment and coordinating the network of national and international partners
  • Coordinating the implementation and content management of the website
  • Supporting research activities and management of knowledge, sources for internal or external analysis report and/or presentations of PLDP team
  • Supporting fund-raising and grant management activities
  • Ensuring documentation and reporting, including liaison between different partners, liaison with the University administration, facilitating communication and outreach activities

What we expect from you…

  • Master’s degree in Political Science / Social Sciences
  • Good knowledge and field expertise in citizens participation, participatory democracy and its practices, preferably in Luxembourg
  • Several years of experience in project management and project lead (coordination and implementation), work experience in an academic/research environment
  • Experience and ease in managing multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with fundraising and grant management support
  • Capacity and interest in designing and organising events, including workshops and trainings
  • Initiative, ability to independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a multicultural environment
  • Fluency in English and French are required, knowledge of Luxembourgish would be an advantage
